About the African SAP User Group:

The African SAP User Group (AFSUG) serves as the voice of the SAP Customer and Partner community, providing a platform for customers and partners to exchange stories of shared interest. This collaborative environment is conducive to influencing and fostering cooperation within the community.

It’s important to note that AFSUG is the sole user group in Africa dedicated to representing SAP users, and it operates independently of SAP as a non-profit organisation. The organization is overseen by a board of Customer CIOs who generously volunteer their time.

In addition to hosting Special Interest Group Meetings, AFSUG also conducts a variety of webinars featuring speakers from both global and local backgrounds. One of our notable events is the biennial conference SAPHILA conference.

Are We Affiliated To SAP?

AFSUG is an independent non-profit organisation, functioning as a User Group entity that operates and administers its services for the betterment of its member community. While AFSUG maintains a close working relationship with SAP, it steadfastly maintains its independence as a non-profit organization. Our sole purpose is to cater to the needs of our members. AFSUG stands as a completely autonomous voice advocating for the SAP user community, addressing their issues and concerns. We have the capability and willingness to communicate these concerns directly to SAP’s senior management. AFSUG is governed by a board of Customer CIOs who volunteer their time for this cause.

Why should I join AFSUG?

  • Joining AFSUG offers numerous benefits, including access to exclusive events (both in-person and online), expert content from Special Interest Groups (SIGs), networking opportunities, and the ability to influence SAP product development. Members can also take advantage of training and education programs to stay updated with the latest SAP developments.

  • AFSUG offers various membership levels based on the size and type of organization. These include Customer Level Memberships (ranging from Level 1 for over 1500 users to Level 5 for SAP Business One users) and Partner Level Memberships including Hyperscalers, Global partners, SAP VARs,  Technical Partner membership and individual contractor memberships.

How to Volunteer for Special Interest Groups (SIGs)

AFSUG is actively seeking volunteers for our Special Interest Groups (SIGs).

AFSUG offers a unique opportunity to share your SAP journey, experiences, successes, and challenges with the broader SAP User Community.

As a member, your valuable input is crucial in suggesting topics, identifying presenters, and occasionally hosting SIG events. This platform allows you to build a personal network within the SAP User Group Network.

All other logistics are expertly managed by AFSUG and the back-office team dedicated to the Special Interest Group you choose to join as a Steercom member.

AFSUG organizes a variety of events, including webinars, workshops, SIG meetings, and the biennial SAPHILA conference. These events are designed to facilitate networking, knowledge sharing, and discussions on best practices among SAP users and partners. We recently launched our first Chapter events, Botswana, Namibia and a focussed strategy to also cover a greater part of Africa under AFSUG.

What is a SIG?

SIGs are focused groups within AFSUG that deliver expert content on specific SAP topics. They feature presentations and discussions led by SAP experts, partners, and customers. SIG meetings are held monthly and cover the latest trends and hot topics in the SAP ecosystem

Many of our Special Interest Groups maintain regular communication with senior SAP Executives. In fact, we pride ourselves on having at least one SAP representative on each of our SIGs. This presence makes the SIGs an excellent platform for direct engagement and feedback.

These representatives consist of volunteers from SAP, customers, and partners who join AFSUG and generously contribute their time to serve on a Special Interest Group Committee. Their collective efforts ensure that the most pressing topics within industries are effectively addressed and discussed.
