Date: 28th October 28 2025
Event Type: AFSUG VS
Presented by: Sunil Chopra, SAP Global Lead for SAP Cloud ALM

Driving Transformation with SAP Cloud ALM

AFSUG’s latest ALM session brought together SAP experts, partners and customers for an in-depth look at how SAP Cloud ALM supports transformation journeys under RISE and GROW with SAP

Led by Sunil Chopra, SAP’s Global Lead for Cloud ALM, the 90-minute session unpacked the capabilities, benefits, and roadmap of SAP Cloud ALM — and how it compares to Solution Manager as customers prepare for the end of mainstream maintenance in 2027.

“SAP Cloud ALM is not just a tool; it’s a complete lifecycle management solution that supports implementation, operations and innovation in one unified platform,”
Sunil Chopra, SAP

From Solution Manager to Cloud ALM – What’s Changing

With SAP Solution Manager approaching its end of life, the transition to Cloud ALM is top of mind for many SAP customers.

Sunil highlighted the shift from a monolithic on-premise design to a cloud-native, API-first microservices architecture, offering agility, automatic updates and reduced TCO.

Unlike its predecessor, SAP Cloud ALM supports both cloud and hybrid environments, ensuring customers can manage their full SAP landscape seamlessly.

Over 10,000 customers are already benefiting from real-time visibility across implementation and operational phases.

Key Takeaways

  • End-to-End Lifecycle Support: From design and build to test and deploy, Cloud ALM provides guided implementation using SAP Activate and best practice content.
  • Operational Excellence: Embedded monitoring capabilities enable early detection, root-cause analysis and corrective action — all within a unified dashboard.
  • Clean Core Enablement: Cloud ALM supports the five clean core dimensions — processes, extensibility, data, integration, and operations — helping customers stay close to SAP standard and optimise for continuous innovation.
  • Partner Opportunity: Partners are encouraged to embed Cloud ALM into their delivery models, enhancing project transparency and driving service innovation.
  • Transition Path: Customers can leverage the readiness check and selective data transfer tools to plan their move from Solution Manager to Cloud ALM with confidence.

The Road Ahead

SAP continues to enhance Cloud ALM with AI-assisted automation, expanded KPI libraries, and deeper integration into the broader Business Transformation Management toolchain (including SAP Signavio and SAP LeanIX).

The solution remains central to SAP’s strategy of simplifying transformation journeys and ensuring every customer — whether on RISE or GROW — can achieve faster, safer go-lives.AFSUG extends its appreciation to Sunil Chopra and the SAP ALM Global Team for their continued support and insights shared during this session.

The session recording and presentation will be made available on the AFSUG website.
