In our recent Human Capital Management Virtual Session, we delved into the topic of Measuring the Business Value of SAP SuccessFactors Deployments.

Tshifhiwa Dombo, an HR Transformation Value Advisor at SAP SuccessFactors, guided the discussion, focusing on how organisations can realise the value of their investment from transformation to ROI measurement.

Tshif discussed SAP’s approach to value measurement, using real customer deployment examples. These examples showcased how organisations can leverage SAP’s tools and services to quantify the benefits of their SuccessFactors implementation.

SAP’s Deployment Journey

Insights into SAP’s own deployment of SuccessFactors were shared. Starting with talent management in 2012, the deployment expanded to core HR and analytics, illustrating a strategic HR transformation approach.

Internal Use Case

Tshif highlighted SAP’s internal use of SuccessFactors, including the deployment of Employee Central for core HR and the integration of analytics for global reporting and personalised reports.

Analytics Utilisation

Analytics tools like SAP Analytics Cloud harmonise data, enabling managers at various levels and regions to customise reports. This highlights the depth of SAP’s internal SuccessFactors deployment.

Value Realisation

The session covered how SAP internally measures the value of SuccessFactors. Examples of efficiency in talent management and the impact on HR processes provided a model for customers to follow.

Benchmarking and Business Cases

Tshif emphasized the importance of benchmarking and business cases. These are critical for understanding current standings and potential value realisation, essential for strategic planning and securing funding for HR initiatives.

Value Realisation Process

The process of value realisation was explained, starting from discovering SAP solutions to selecting modules, adopting features and extending capabilities, all aimed at maximising customer value.

Complementary Services

All discussed tools and services are complementary and available to all SAP customers, helping them maximise their investment in SuccessFactors.

Business Case Development

The process of developing business cases was outlined, including understanding strategic levers, identifying baselines and calculating project KPIs to support customers in justifying their investments.

Value Management and Assurance

Tshif discussed the discipline of value management and the collaborative process of value assurance involving customers, SAP and deployment partners to ensure maximum value realisation from SuccessFactors.

HR Scorecard

The concept of an HR scorecard was introduced as a tool for tracking progress against HR and business priorities, aligning HR initiatives with key business objectives.

Concerns and Clarifications

David Bann (k5Business) raised a question about real-time KPI measurement through the benchmarking tool. Tshif clarified that while the benchmarking tool provides dashboards, it requires manual updates for accurate tracking.
