  1. Reg Barry… I was always so fond of you, you were such a gentleman and such a good human. I was devastated to hear about your passing, I was so looking forward to working closer with you this year on the AFSUG. The world has lost a great man. So long Mr. Barry…

  2. Our friend and former colleague Reg Barry. Besides the program and project management tasks that Reg performed as a part of his daily working life – Reg was dedicated and passionate about the African SAP User Group (AFSUG). I had the honor of serving on the AFSUG Board with Reg for the past 10 years. There is absolutely no doubt that his focus and energy was a key component of the re-invigoration af AFSUG.

In the 12 years he was on the board of AFSUG he initiated and drove many programs to great success. Both as a SAP user and as a SAP partner company. Not only was this in the exceptional project management in the execution of the past 4 SAPHILA conferences, but also in the raising of the profile of AFSUG to the other SAP user groups across the Globe. To the point that AFSUG has been recognized as one of the best run user groups in the global SAP community. Considering that AFSUG board participation is purely voluntary (the majority of the others have full time paid board members) this is an awesome achievement – most of which can be attributed to the efforts of Reg!

Reg’s passing is a massive loss to the entire SAP community – not only in South Africa.

  3. Truly a legend Reg has been a familiar face to the SAP community for many years. With a passion for the industry that came across with any conversation had. Always willing to share his wisdom and experience and be the voice for the community and boasting our Africa successes. He will remain in our hearts as a true legend and will be deeply missed by all that knew him. He has contributed meaningful to keep raising the bar to SAPHILA being a world class benchmark event many other user groups aspire and look at with envy. Forever remembered. May his soul rest in peace and sending love and light to his family in their grief.
